The recent update of OpenFDE has significantly enhanced its functionality and stability. We have optimized the smoothness of the system interface, fixed multiple bugs affecting user experience, and made important progress in underlying graphics support and application compatibility.
1. System Interface and Interaction Optimization
1. 1 Taskbar and Status Bar
Battery Information Enhancement
The SystemUI battery icon supports displaying charging percentage information; just hover the mouse over the icon to view it.
New Quick Operations
The control window and application list invoked from the taskbar support quick closing by pressing the Esc key.
Screen Recording Function Optimization
The status bar screen recording button is now integrated with the system's native screen recording function, providing a more convenient screen recording experience. Click the control center icon in the upper right corner, then click on screen recording.
The screen recording encoding format has been changed from H265 to H264, completely fixing the issue of screen recording results showing artifacts.
OpenFDE supports selecting screen recording for a single application or the entire screen, and it allows for self-configuration of options such as displaying a stop button, low quality, file size limits, and skipping countdowns.
Stability Improvement
Fixed the issue of the status bar crashing after the D3000m device wakes up from sleep.
1.2 Desktop and Window Management
Desktop Popup Style Unification
Optimized the visual style of desktop right-click menus, delete confirmation, and other popups.
Right-Click Menu Optimization
Resolved the issue of the right-click menu displaying "Settings" without a title bar, and removed the bottom black frame during the rename operation.
Window Focus Interaction
Fixed the issue where it was difficult to switch focus to a non-focused window when two windows were too close together.
Optimized the mouse cursor switching logic between windows, resolving the lag and occasional inability to switch issues.
Fixed the issue of the down arrow key being unresponsive.
Window Memory Function
Fixed the issue where the window size memory function was ineffective; the window size will be maintained after the application restarts.
Desktop Icon Optimization
Resolved the occasional unresponsiveness of desktop icons through an icon persistence mechanism.

Enhanced Keyboard Navigation
On the application list page, you can select the application icon using the keyboard arrow keys and press the Enter key to launch the application directly, providing a more efficient keyboard operation experience.
2. Core Application Updates
2.1 Resource Explorer
A new Resource Explorer feature has been added, providing users with centralized monitoring and management of processes, resource usage, and file systems.
You can open the Resource Explorer by following the path Application List > Resource Explorer to intuitively view real-time information on process status, resource usage, and file systems.
2.2 "Settings" App Optimization
Display Fix:
Resolved the issue of screen distortion during zooming in the settings app
Fixed the flickering issue of the window content when resizing the "Settings" app.
Fixed the color issue of some submenu logos at specific resolutions.
Visual Optimization: Adjusted the font styles on some pages to enhance the reading experience.
Data Persistence: Fixed the issue of data loss after rebooting due to compatibility configuration.
Stability Improvement: Fixed a crash issue that occurred when navigating to the network settings page via the WiFi icon in the taskbar when there is no Ethernet card in the system.
2.3 App Library Update
Utilized a brand new gallery component to enhance the image browsing and management experience.

Changed the default selection method to "double-click to select," which is more in line with traditional desktop operation habits.
3. System Underlying and Compatibility Enhancements
3.1 Graphics and Display
X11 Protocol Support Optimization
A new hwcomposer for the X11 protocol has been added, eliminating the need to connect through Weston to the X11 Server, significantly improving the display performance and compatibility of X11 applications.
Hardware Compatibility
Support for enabling camera functionality on AMD GPUs.
Fixed the issue of the mouse cursor appearing too large when starting FDE using the login method on the D3000m device.
3.2 Comprehensive Optimization of Screen Recording Function
Video Recording Fix: Fixed the issue of incorrect frames in the first few seconds of the recording.
Interactive Experience: Resolved the issue of multiple Toast notifications popping up after the screen recording ends, and fixed the problem of the Dock bar icon disappearing after updating the application.
3.3 Application Compatibility and Network
Network Issue Fix: Fixed the "no network" connection error reported by some applications (e.g., BabyBus).
Linux Application Integration:
Fixed the issue of Android application icons being too small in the Linux desktop environment.
Added support for Chinese input methods on Linux.
3.4 3D Acceleration Mode Supporting API Forwarding
A new 3D acceleration running mode for API forwarding has been added, supporting more GPUs and providing advanced users and developers with more flexible runtime options.
4. Key Issue Fixes
4.1 System Stability
Fixed a critical issue where the Task Manager crashed and the system could not shut down properly during the first installation of OpenFDE14.
4.2 User Experience
Added support for the Tab key in the application list interface to quickly switch focus between the search box and the selected application.
The SettingsUI interface is continuously being optimized to provide a more intuitive settings experience.
