AOSP 14

1.Introduction

OpenFDE AOSP14 is a desktop system based on the AOSP14 version. Compared with OpenFDE AOSP11, this version provides a brand - new interaction design and functional layout. This guide will quickly show you how to use the OpenFDE AOSP14 version. Before you start using it, please make sure that you have installed the OpenFDE AOSP14 version. For the quick installation process, please refer to Quick Installtion

2.Startup Methods

There are two startup methods for the OpenFDE AOSP14 version: application startup and desktop login startup.

2.1 Start OpenFDE via desktop login

Log out of the current system user and select the FDE desktop on the login screen to start the system. The operating systems supported by this startup method are: ubuntu, kylin, and debian.

2.2 Start OpenFDE in the application mode

Find the shortcut of OpenFDE in the application list of the current system and click it to start.

The OpenFDE AOSP14 version features a brand - new desktop layout, with adjustments made to the taskbar, status bar, and start menu layouts.

3. Desktop layout

3.1 Status Bar

  • Location: Top right corner of the desktop

  • Functional modules (from left to right):

    • Input method status

    • Network management

    • Sound management

    • Battery management

    • Global search

    • Control center

    • Notification management

    • Battery management

3.2 Task Bar

  • Location: Centered at the bottom of the desktop

  • Functions:

    • Quick launch: Click an icon to quickly open an app.

    • App management:

      • Right - click an icon to view the shortcut menu, such as pinning to the taskbar or closing the app.

      • Display currently running apps: The taskbar shows the opened app windows.

3.3 Start Menu

  • Opening method: Click the OpenFDE icon on the taskbar.

  • Functions:

    • Display all installed applications (system applications + third - party applications)

    • Paging operation:

      • Click the bottom navigation dots (···) to switch to the next page of the application list.

      • Click anywhere in the blank area of the application list to return to the desktop.

4. Input method configuration

  • Default input method: The iFlytek input method pre - installed in the system.

  • Modify the input method: Click the input method icon in the status bar and select "Input method settings" to switch the input method.

5. Network configuration

  • Open Settings

    • Find "Settings" in the Start menu or the taskbar, and click the "System Settings" icon.

  • Select Network & Internet

    • On the system settings interface, click the "Network & Internet" option to open the main interface for network and Internet configuration.

5.1 Wired network configuration

a. Check the connection status

  • On the Network and Internet settings interface, the "Wired network" tab is displayed by default. Under this tab, you can see the connection status of the current wired network, such as "Connected".

b. Interface Configuration

  • In the "Configuration Items" area, you can see the configurable interfaces (e.g., enaphyt4i0). If you need to change the interface-related configurations, you can perform operations here.

c. IP Settings

  • It supports manual configuration of information such as IP addresses. Click the "Manual Input" option under "IP Settings" and enter the corresponding network information in each field.

5.2 Wireless Network Settings

If you have a laptop computer that supports a wireless network card, you can configure the wireless network.

Click on the "Wi-Fi" tab, turn on the Wi-Fi switch, and you can see a list of available Wi-Fi networks.

6.Application Management

6.1 System Applications

The system comes pre - installed with basic applications, including File Manager, Calendar, Gallery, Via Browser, Settings Tool, etc.

6.2 Application Installation

  • Supported methods: Install third - party applications through the app store or the command line.

  • Users who are installing OpenFDE for the first time can first download "App Bao" on the Via Browser, and then install the required Android applications in App Bao.

6.3 Application Uninstallation

  • Steps:

    • Right - click on the application icon in the Start menu

    • Select the "Uninstall" option.

6.4 Recommended Application List

The system has a built - in recommended application list, which can be viewed in the Start menu. For commonly used application software in OpenFDE, please refer to App Recommendations

7. Advanced Features and Skills

7.1 Global Search

Click the search icon in the status bar to quickly open the global search bar. Enter keywords to search for applications, files, or system settings.

7.2 Theme Appearance Settings

Right-click on the desktop and select "Change wallpaper" to enter the wallpaper and personalization settings.

Click to change the wallpaper, and you can select local pictures to change to the wallpaper you like.

8. File Management and Peripheral Device Connection

8.1 Using the File Manager

  • Quick access: Open the file manager from the Start menu to perform operations on Android and Linux files. For the specific tutorial on using the file manager, refer to File System Column
